Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to compare about early childhood teacher education system in Japan and China. Early childhood teacher education system in Japan was made to train 2 kinds of early childhood teachers such as "kindergarten teachers" and "nursery teachers". Kindergarten teachers education and nursery teachers education have been begun in real earnest after WWⅡ. After 1990, there are 3 kinds of kindergarten teacher license such as “specialist license” (equivalent to graduation from a graduate school), “first class license” (equivalent to graduation from a four-year university), and “second class license” (equivalent to graduation from a two-year junior college). Nursery teacher education is conducted in designated training institutions. Nursery teacher certification as a professional certification for teachers working at nursery schools and other child welfare facilities is only one kind.
