In a society that is expecting the “2030 problem,” the educational field is also expected to undergo changes. Therefore, it is necessary to reexamine the subject of education in teacher training colleges for the improvement of school education. However, limited research has been conducted on teacher training colleges. This study discusses the perception of students regarding the mathematical recognition of children using the inventory survey method. The study results revealed that it is difficult to determine the mathematical recognition of children. Furthermore, it was observed that students’ knowledge of arithmetic is problematic, and this is reflected in their erroneous notions.
