In this country there is a common sense that Egoism is bad, and a few men make a wider and deeper study of it. But it is the question, whether Egoism on the whole is bad or not. In this work I am going to research into the above question. When we are engaged in deeper studies of Egoism, we cannot neglect the research in Altruism that is confronted with Egoism, and farther we must notice Universalism that grasps, as a principle, a universe (whole human beings) which is confronted with Ego as individual. The moral ideal, in so far as it refers to the relations of an individual to other human beings, may be considered under the headings of Egoism, Universalism, and Altruism. Universalism cannot keep itself against Criticism from Egoism and Altruism. It is not fitting that we think the moral ideal as the alternative of Egoism and Altruism. It appears that Egoism and Altruism logically contradict each other. But in our actual life the above two do not always contradict each other, rather they often reconcile each other.
