This is to examine the attitude of female students toward the classical music and the process of the formation of the attitude. Method Subjects. 232 students of women's junior college. (Group 1: 181 students of the domestic economy course and Group 2 : 52 students of the musical course.) Questionnaire. 1. Do you like the classical music? (like much, like, don't like or dislike, dislike, dislike much) 2. When did you come to like the classical music? (elementary school, junior high school, sinior high school, etc.) 3. What do you think of the reason why you like or dislike the classical music? 4. How do you listen the classical music? (listen it frequently, listen it sometimes, don't listen it so much, don't listen at all.) 5. Do or did you take lessons in the piano? (group 1 only) 6. What kind of music do you listen habitually? 7. What kind of music did you listen in childhood? Results 1. Group 1. -like 26.0%, don't like or dislike 60.8%, dislike 13.3%. Group 2. -like 76.9%, don't like or dislike 21.2%, dislike 1.9%. 2. Group 1. - when elementary school 34.0%, when junior high school 46.8%, otherwise 19.2%. Group 2. -when elementary school 47.5%, when junior high school 35.0%, otherwise 17.5%. 3. The reason why ones like it. To take lessons in music from a child. To listen many musics frequently from a child at home. To listen many nice musics during school hours. To be much impressed by the music. To take pleasure in playing for oneself. 4. Group 1. -like-group (frequently 15.9%, sometimes 31.8%, not so much 52.3%) not like or dislike-group (sometimes 3.7%, not so much 70.4%, not at all 25.9%) dislike-group (not so much 20.8%, not at all 79.2%) Group 2. -like-group (frequently 32.5%, sometimes 55.0%, not so much 12.5%) not like or dislike-group (frequently 1, sometimes 5, not so much 4 in number) dislike-group (sometimes I in number) 5. Ones who took lessons in or from a child are 71 out of 181 in number. 6. The results of Question No.6 and No.7 are similarly. Popular songs, folk songs, new musics, rock or disco tic musics and TV or CM songs are listend habitually in Group 1 and 2. 7. It appeared that the importance of home environment and school education to make the sentiment must be reaffirmed.
