The purpose of this study was to investigate the speech style of adolescents, especially, the relation between the speech style and the interpersonal relations or interpersonal impression. Results indicated that the speech to the elder in a formal relationship was more polite, the speech to the elder in a informal relationship was less polite, the speech was less polite when felt intimate for the elder, and the speech was more polite when respected to the elder.
