A study of differences in the speech forms of natives in Hiroshima prefectuer living at two different areas revealed that male informants of farming areas maintained more dialect forms than the others (female informants of farming areas, male and female informants of Shataku: a company provided housing facilities). Male informants of farming areas were found to fulfill the request to adopt dialect forms. Furthermore, the results of the study from male and female informants of Shataku showed that a sex difference did not exist in 16 items of lexicon.
