In this article, I considered Japanese agriculture, particularly, rice after the Uruguay Round. Rice as a basic food is expected to have a surplus in the near future, but by 2001 years rice must be imported at a certain level. And in the overseas several countries think that they can export rice to Japan, therefore, this impact will have a possibility the influence on Japanese agriculture greatly. Japanese farmers need to produce rice aiming at consumers' requirements, and coping with cheap and good quarity rice imports.
