We have paid attention to children’s participation in the landscape planning. This study deals with children’s recognition of city landscape. Therefore, a painting competition on the theme ofthe landscape to keep and conserve was held for elementary and junior high school pupils. In the competition, the reason for choosing visual task as subject of painting were written about fifty characters. This description contents were quantitatively analyzed by cluster analysis and text mining approach. The main findings obtained are as follows:（ 1） Children recognize tourist sites and facilities such as parks, museums and so on. At the same time a familiar environments and events as landscape. （2） Especially, they recognize festivals, Saturday night market, visiting a grave, sea bathing and so on as landscape. （3） As for a bridge landscape, they understand the faculties of bridge and then recognize in scenery. （4） Learning in school and daily life affects their recognitions.
