This report is a study of the French organization Le Cimade Lorient. Over the past 75 years, this service organization has cooperated with the French Prison and Probation Service, with a focus on supporting foreign inmates. This paper analyzes the organization’s activities, finances, achievements, and future direction. Our results, which demonstrate the importance of equal relationships between inmates and supporters, have implications for Japanese associations pursuing similar work.
