The purpose of this study is to clarify the factors involved in high school students’ occupation choices and university choices, with a focus on occupations in three fields: health and physical education teachers/sports and welfare.
The results of analyzing the survey results for high school students are as follows.
1. Regarding the most important thing in choosing occupations, there were many who answered that they could make use of what they liked among health and physical education teachers and those who chose sports as occupations. On the other hand, among those who chose welfare, nursing, and medical care, there were many who replied that “it helps many people”. We were able to see a difference in consciousness of occupational choice between physical education / sports and welfare.
2. As for the reasons for wishing to go on to university, nearly 50% of health and physical education teachers answered that they need a university graduation qualification to get the job they want. On the other hand, in sports relations and welfare / nursing / medical services, more people answered that they want to learn advanced specialized knowledge deeply than health and physical education teachers, and those who consider welfare / nursing / medical care as future occupations. The trend was remarkable.
3. With regard to occupation succession with family members, about 20% to 30% of people
accepted occupation succession.
