“Graduate School of Social Information Science, Kure University” had been established in April, 1999. In this paper, I survey the development trend of Social Science which can say the origin of Social Information Studies. Then, I introduce the reasons for establishing graduate school from the Prospectus which was based on the development trend of Social Science, at that time.
Also, I explain the background to the idea of Purpose, Characteristics and Structure of Subjects, written in the Prospectus. Core fields of Social Information Science are Social phenomena in a narrow sense, Economic phenomena and Natural phenomena, and the research subjects are Social Information in a broad sense deriving from these three phenomena.
Interdisciplinary and Multidisciplinary are fundamental characteristics of Social Information Studies.
