This study identifies the impact of engaging in paid service learning on students who aspire to become interpersonal aid professionals. Ten students engaged in paid service learning were surveyed twice in 2019 and 2020 on ageism, helping effects measures, and resilience. Results showed that there was a significant decrease in ageism scores( p<.05) and a significant increase in helping effects in terms of feelings of fulfillment ( p<.01). In addition, resilience scores showed a significant improvement( p<.05) in self-assurance and total scores. The results showed that paid service learning was effective not only for economic benefits, but also as an educational and mental health measure. |
