This is a report on the background of the establishment of the blind soccer team, A-pfeile Hiroshima BFC, by the lead author and the registrants. It includes the results of a questionnaire survey. In 2015, when working at a special needs school for the visually impaired in Hiroshima, the first author focused on blind soccer. Blind soccer is a Paralympic event, which enables those with or without visual impairment to participate in sports, and promotes cooperation among children through competition. It was established with the desire to enable participants to experience the joy of playing sports in groups and according to gender.At the time of the team’s establishment, the registrants were four visually-impaired athletes and two instructors, who belonged to the Asahi Medical college of Hiroshima. Currently, 6 visually-impaired athletes, 5 sighted athletes, and 12 instructors are registered. In the questionnaire survey, many players and instructors responded positively to the goals of this activity; thus, it has become one of the few valuable places where visually-impaired people can regularly play soccer in the area.
