Now, the development of leaders in the local community is an urgent issue. In the old community, there was a mechanism to train leaders. However, with the progress of urbanization, the educational function in the broad sense of the local community was lost. It can be said that traditional performing arts performed during events in the local community were also places of education.
The author has so far been involved in efforts to foster leaders in the movement of regional collaboration. This time, from the aspect of inheriting folk performing arts, I examined an attempt to train leaders. The community of practice is also a community of learning.
The example taken up is Kotsubo Kagura in Kure City. Hiroshima Prefecture is known for its particularly popular Kagura. As the so-called “Hiroshima Kagura”, there is a development that emphasizes“showing”, but Kotsubo Kagura retains the character of Kagura by community , where many of the performers and viewers are still residents of the local community. It was also confirmed that the performers of Kagura are also responsible for other community activities. In this respect, the succession of Kagura creates the sustainability of the community.
