Abstract

Abstract:It has been suggested that exposure to external stimuli disrupts conditioned taste aversion in Norway rats.This research investigated the effects of external stimuli:intermittent footshock on taste aversion conditioning in ICR(CD-1)male mice.Conditioned taste aversions were produced by injecting lithium cloride(LiC1)into subjects immediately after they have finished drinking saccharin solution.Subjects were exposed to weak(0.06mA)intermittent footshock for 3 hr following the injection.In the subsequent one-bottle test,they attenuated an aversion to saccharin solution compared with control animals who haven't exposed to footshock.These results suggest that external stimuli attenuate LiC1-induced taste aversion conditioning in both mice and rats.These findings are discussed with regard to stress-induced analgesia.
