Abstract |
The aim of this paper is to show the educational effects and effects on motivations, resulting from the student participation in Oral Presentation and Performance (OPP) events. The results of the questionnaires given to students at six universities are analyzed in terms of three kinds of motivations and eight kinds of strategies for studying English. Comments written by the students at Hirosima International University (HIU) are also analyzed to determine student awareness of their motivation for studying English. The results of the questionnaires show that “class activity level” motivation increases, and “English class level” and “special level” also show a tendency to increase after the OPP events. Statistically, the results do not show a significant change in strategies for studying English following the events, although some changes was seen among the HIU students from the qualitative data. |
