Abstract

To improve the recent worsening of hospital finances, it is essential to increase the number of patients who visit for onsultation. Hospital publicity activities which utilize the Internet have rapidly increased in recent years and can be regarded as an effective means of realizing two-way communication, rather than one-way information transmission, leading to an increase in the number of patients and improvement in business. A survey on the status of online publicity of social medical corporations and hospitals revealed that most of them have established websites that provide information, and about half of the facilities also support searching for information from smartphones. Approximately 30% of websites utilize social networking services (SNS), of which Facebook has the highest usage rate. In addition, a favorable impression was found in proportion to the number of updates. It is necessary for hospitals to adopt a flexible public relations strategy that adapts to the times and the environment, and the utmost care must be taken in its implementation. Although the utilization of SNS is an effective means of promoting hospitals, it is necessary to examine how to use SNS according to the characteristics of patients and local residents.
