Living Environment Studies in the Course of Study for Elementary Schools was announced in March, Heisei ２９ (２０１７), based on the report “Regarding the improvements and necessary measures of Courses of Study for Kindergarten, Elementary Schools, Lower Secondary Schools, Upper Secondary Schools, and Schools for Special Needs Education” published by the Central Council for Education on ２１ December, Heisei ２８ (２０１６).　This article analyzes this revised section of Living Environment Studies from three points of view: first, characteristics of largely modified goals; second, review of the contents; and third, the issues related to teaching performance for Living Environment Studies.　Finally, this article presents an improved teaching plan for ideal classes.
