Halle & Vergnaud (H&V) (1987) constructs the metrical constituents by setting the parameters on each line. Although this paper basically follows the way of H&V's metrical constituent construction, I offer some new proposals on the constituent construction rules for English words.
H&V conflates lines 1 and 2 to preserve the head of a constituent on the higher line, but I assume here that Line Conflation is not necessary since the Binary Constituent Construction and the Unbounded Constituent Construction apply in that order. That is, the higher constituents construct themselves on the lower constituents.
Various stress rules are introduced in this paper to derive the proper metrical constituent structures.
