In 1973-1978，we took monthly measurement of 70 pregnant women and nursing mothers and examined the measurements of the parts of their bodies between the 4th and the 10th
month of pregnancy and in the first month after chi1dbirth. We also observed the monthly increase and decrease in the measurements and the recoverability after childbirth. The result obtained was as follows. 1.The pregnant women showed a remarkable increase in the following items; front waist height，total crotch length，girth items，thickness items, abdominal slope and weight. All were seen to decrease after chi1dbirth. 2.The measurement means in the 4th and 10th month and after chi1dbirth were as follows;front waist height: 96.4cm in the 4th month, 104.1cm in the 10th month and 96.9 cm after childbirth，total crotch length: 71. 3 cm・91.0cm・74.0cm，abdominal extension girth: 83.4 cm・97.9cm・87.3cm，a bdominal thickness: 20.9 cm・29.4cm・22.2cm，ab dominal slope: 17.8°.41.7°.17.1° and weight: 48.6kg ・59.8kg ・52.6kg respectively. 3.The increase between the 4th and the 10th month was as follows; front waist height: 7.6cm (8%)，total crotch length: 19.7cm (28%)，abdominal extension girth: 14.5cm(18%)，abdominal thickness: 8.5 cm (42%)，abdominal slope: 23.9°(145%) and weight: 11.2 kg
(24%). 4.Front waist height. total crotch length，a bdominal thickness and weight showed the most remarkable increase between the 5th and the 10th month and abdominal extension girth and abdominal slope，between the 7th and 8th month.5. After childbirth，a bdominal slope recovered to 101% of its condition before pregnancy，which corresponded to the condition in about the 3rd month of pregnancy; likewise，front waist height: 94%・the 4th month，total crotch length: 86%・the 5th month，a bdominal
thickness: 84%・the 5th month，weight: 64%・the 6th month and abdominal extension girth:
73%・the 7th month respectively. 6.A considerable difference of measurements was seen among individuals except in the
length items excluding total crotch length. The difference was remarkable in abdominal
thickness，abdominal slope and weight，especially in about the 4th and the 5th month.
