Abstract

Nonwovens are widely utilized in many industries such as in the production of household items, filters and automobiles. However, they are rarely used
in clothing. In future, to expand upon the use of
nonwovens, it is necessary to develop the nonwovens for clothing applications. Therefore, in this study, by forming spunlace composite nonwovens with dividual fibers and changing the laminate structure, effects of the water-jet (WJ) secondary pressure from 11 MPa to 13 MPa on the shape stability of composite nonwovens by using dividual fiber. We produced nonwovens having enhanced tensile strength while maintaining their original texture. The results of bagging tests suggested that changing the WJ secondary pressure led to improved bagging performance in a dividual fiber spunbond nonwovens. Furthermore, a high correlation was observed between the evaluated value of the bagging performance and the values of the fundamental mechanical properties measured with Kawabata evaluation system method. This correlation suggests that the bagging performance of the dividual fiber composite nonwoven can be evaluated by measuring its basic mechanical properties.
