Abstract

This research aims to explain that the "Chapel Hour" in HJU has a certain educational significance, and to help finding out an effective method for building up the mind of future "Christianity education" (i.e. education on the basis of the principles of Christianity), as well as the mind of nursery care for kids through Christianity.
We made an analysis on the comment sheets written by the students who attended the "Chapel Hour" class during the spring semester ₂₀₁₆. After picking up the frequent words which appeared more than ₃₀ times in the comments, and setting the names of every department as the index words, we drew a co-occurrence network picture using a text mining software. Then, we made the following interpretations on the extracted from the network, referring to the context in regard of their preceding and succeeding words according to the KWIC concordance results:
Students of every department seemed to realize that they "could know" or "could see" something at Chapel Hour, and got the feeling that they would like "to do" or "to be" something. Besides, every analytyic results on each department gave its characteristic features: students in the Department of Liberal Arts often became well aware of their "present" state of mind, while in the Department of Fashion and Architectural Design, students were apt to be moved by the "words". In the Department of Nutrition and Health Promotion, students tended to see "problems" in the human world, and students of the Department of Child Education and Psychology often referred to the "fear".
As a result, this research suggests that the "Chapel Hour" in HJU not only gives a personality growth on the basis of Christianity, but also would possibly contribute to the upbringing of the students as it improves non-cognitive skills: Self-perceptions, Social competencies, Motivation, Creativity and Metacognitive strategy.
