Abstract |
This paper is an attempt to analyze how James Baldwin describes his women in his main novels: Go Tell It on the Mountain,Another Country, Tell Me How Long the Train's Been Gone, and If Beale Street Could Talk. Baldwin's men have been often discussed, because they were very important for him when he traced back his own history. His men sometimes appearas "father" and/or "homosexual." These men are so impressive that it could be said that we do not pay much attention to his women. In this paper, first of all,it will be discussed how Ba1dwin's women are involved with the process of recognition of being black slaves. Secondly,it will be analyzed how his women can get involved with today's problems through the recognition of being black slaves. Thirdly, the focus will be on the characteristics of his women and their potentiality. |
