As a syllabus of Problem Solution Type Study，a practice study was carried out by employing an ancient method of technology for precious stone. This is an elective teaching unit of “Science and technology” at second grade semester. The students plan how can they drill into a precious stone by an ancient method. This was an exciting study because they made a plan how to attack a given subject，designed and made the tools by themselves，and succeeded in drilling a small hole in a hard precious stone according to the ancient method. Their interest in engineered was sharpened by this reappearance experiment using ancient drilling mathods.

課題解決型学習の実践の1つとして，古代方式で宝石類に穿孔していた技術の再現を講義学習で実施した。これは2年次の選択教科「科学と方法」の中のひとつである。 学生は与えられた課題に対して，プランをたて，実現のための道具を設計し，自身で製作し，そして古代方式により孔をあける。 受講した学生は古代方式の穿孔技術を体験し，これにより，工学にたいして大変興味を抱き，学習意欲を増した。
