This report deals with the discussions of the meaning of “recycle”, particularly the Japanese word “risaikuru”. The use of this word in Japan has become extremely varied. The authors investigated the word from the narrowest meaning to the broadest one and at the same time examined the terms which refer to “recycle” used in the Recycling laws of Japan. Significance of recycle was summarized and we made a proposal to be used the same wordings for the same concepts.

本稿はリサイクル，とりわけ日本語化して使われているリサイクルの意味と広がりについて考察したものである。「リサイクル」という言葉は日本語としてはいろいろな意味で使われるようになってしまっている。筆者らは，最も狭い意味から最も広い意味までを究明しあわせてリサイクル関連の法律でリサイクルを意味する用語を調査した。そして，リサイクルの意義を整理し，同じ概念のものは同一の用語を用いるべきであると提言している。
