To develop student's capabilities to analyze and resolve issues, we have started an educational study by means of developing a vehicle and participating in the Formula SAE（Society of Automotive Engineers）event. In this report, we describe the initial stages of this educational study. At the first stage, we investigate the body frame structure of a vehicle, which actually ran in the past competition event, and also understood the regulations with regards to body frame structure. Based on these activities, the students developed rough sketches. Furthermore, with support of a top-level Japanese university in the SAE event, we learned the planning and analyzing know-how and measured the dimensions of actual body frame. Using these measured dimensions, we constructed the front body frame. The educational process shows that the Formula SAE is an effective teaching material to rouse the independent activity of the students.
At the next stage, we will construct the rear body frame, and use this full body frame as a baseline to study performance and the structure of a vehicle with engine, driveline and chassis systems being mounted. We will continue more verification of the educational effect to the students.

学生の問題に対する調査能力や解決能力の向上を図るため，「物づくり」をきっかけとした教育研究に着手した。題材として「学生フォーミュラ」を取り上げ，大会参加を最終目標に掲げた。まず，初歩の段階として過去の大会に参加した車体構造の調査と，車体構造に関するレギュレーション解釈を行いそれらを反映したスケッチ図作成を行った。次に学生フォーミュラ大会で実績のある国内トップレベルの大学から，企画，立案，解析などに関するノウハウを入手するとともに，大会に出場した車体フレーム実物からの寸法採取を行い，これをベースとした車体フレームフロント部の試作を完了した。これまでの過程で「学生フォーミュラ」は学生の主体的活動を喚起する上で有効な教材であることが分かったので，今後はリヤ部を作製し，エンジン搭載時や駆動系，足回りなど装着時の性能，構造などを検討する土台とするとともに更なる教育効果を検証していく。
