Abstract

Serious damage to non-structural components such as ALC walls, ceilings and windows was reported after the 2011 earthquake off the Pacific coast of Tohoku. However, it is thought that the stiffness buildings is effect of the stiffness and strength of non-structural elements as well as only structural skeletons. In this study, We observed microtremors of the 3-story steel building in the case of only structural skeletons and the case of inserting non-structural components, and compared the dynamic characteristics derived from of microtremors. Also, the effect of non-structural components for total behavior of the steel building in deliberated. As a result, it is confirmed that the torsional component is primary in the case of only structural skeletons, and is not primacy in the case of inserting non-structural components.

Based on it, effective data that facilitated a numerical model of building for studying the effect of non-structural components on buildings duaring large earthquakes are derived.
