The restoring force characteristics of the usual exposed-type column bases are shown to be the slip-type ones, and the plastic deformation of the column bases is due to monotonic tensile deformation of the anchor bolts. The experiments of the column bases with the device, which filled up the gap between the nut and the base plate, were carried out.
