The accuracy of the statistical properties of the simulated response processes of structures subjected to the stationarily random excitations is investigated by comparison with theoretical values. Using a trigonometric siries with the upper cutoff frequency ωu, each response of one-degree-of-freedom linear systems having various damping factors ζ is simulated for different values of ωu. It is shown that in respect of the mean values, the r. m. s. values, the normality and the spectral density functions of the simulated response processes, the accuracy is agreeabel when using ωu=1.6 ω0, 1.9 ω0 and 2.1 ω0; for ζ=0.05, ζ=0.10 and ζ=0.15, respectively, for simulation, in which ω0 is the natural circular frequency. Furthermore, the precision of a parameter q, which is importantly related to average barrier crossing rates and clump sizes, is discussed as a problem of structural reliability.
