Abstract

As in the case of peristaltic flow, there are cases where inflow and outflow boundary values required to solve the Navier-Stokes equation cannot be clearly defined. In such cases, a method of deciding boundary values is considered assuming that the flow is cyclic, and therefore that the values of vorticity and stream function at the inflow boundary are equal to the respective values at the outflow boundary. The method is carried out using the following steps: i) The value of the stream function is calculated from the inflow boundary to the outflow boundary. ii) The calculated value at the outflow boundary is used as a new value at the inflow boundary. iii) Steps i) and ii) are repeated until a convergence is obtained. iv) The values of vorticity at the inflow boundaries are calculated from the above values of the stream function.
