Abstract

From the viewpoint of applying machine diagnostics to a rotating machinery system, the vibration and running noise characteristics occurring in a petite circular sawing machine have been investigated using the techniques of time-series analyses such as auto-and cross-correlation, power-and cross-spectrum, and Campbell diagram. The vibration components having the same periods as the rotation speed of the drive and driven shafts can be seen over the whole range of measured frequencies. These components can be considered as the main origin of the vibrations and noises in the power transmission system. Also, the subharmonic resonances at the frequency 2, 3 times as fast as the natural frequency give rise to the growth of running noises in the high speed region ranging 15,000 to 23,000 rpm. While the present treatment is restricted to the analyses for a non-load running machine system, it can be said that the Campbell diagram is effective to detect the anomaly of power transmission device.
