Krashen's second language acquisition theory,usually identified as the Input Hypothesis,is as ynthetic attainment of various research studies on the subject. It brings many productive suggestions,but at the same time it poses some controversial issues to language teaching. This paper will summarize his theory,observe its advantages in terms of general applicability to language teaching,and critically examine his proposal regarding the place of grammar in consideration of its application to syllabus design.
