Abstract

The improvement of earthquake-proof performance of wooden houses is one of the most important disaster prevention measures for urban area against earthquakes. The purpose of this research is to investigate the earthquake-proof performance of the inside sub-frame by using the polypropylene material processing as the strengthened exterior wall. The test results are as follows. (1) The wall area index of the proposed inside-frame shows about 0.5 at 1/120 rad of story-deformation angle. (2) The ultimate bearing force of the proposed inside-frame is over 2 or 3 times against the strength at 1/120 rad; therefore the sufficient safety ratio can be maintained. (3) The rupture of the proposed inside-frame occurred due to the breakage of the joint part fastened by screw nails between the inside-frame and the supporting stud. Thus it will be better to improve resistance property of the joint part.
