Abstract

Weak-panel-type beam-to-column connections exist in steel structures with H-shaped columns. These connections possess good energy absorption capability, but the structures with them show less strength and larger residual deformation after an earthquake than strong-panel-type ones. Therefore, authors propose rehabilitation of the connections by use of non-compression knee-braces, and experimental study on the technique is carried out to verify more strength of the connections.
