Abstract

Even if the speech handicapped know human sign languages, it is impossible to communicate with
a person who doesn’t know them. Therefore, to assist the speech handicapped, we have developed
such a speech synthesis system as the texts can be provided by a pair of sensor gloves. The sensor
gloves have ten binary outputs which indicate whether each finger is bending or not, and that digital
code can be converted to the Roman alphabet. Our design strategy has been accomplished by the
H3048F, one of the cheapest microprocessors available.
In this paper we have examined the feasibility of the proposed device concerning such as input
speed, facility and portability.
