The practical factory, one of buildings of Kure National College of Technology, was built on soft, reclaimed ground in Aga-Minami, Kure, in 1966. Due to consolidation settlement of the ground, frameworks of the factory have been subjected to self strain stress. This stress may effects on the earthquake resistant performance of the practical factory of the College.
This paper reports actual condition of the frameworks for the practical factory of Kure National College of Technology, based on observation. And also, this paper investigates both damages and hysteresis characteristics for braces with turnbuckle bearing self strain stress, based on cyclic loading test.
