This paper deals with a homestay program in Hawaii and its effect on students. This homestay program has been conducted with the cooperation of the University of Hawaii Maui College for more than ten years. It is revealed that students who joined this program in 2011 became more confident in their English speaking and listening abilities. They also feel that their English communicative skills have improved through participating in this homestay program. Furthermore, participants who also took Oral Communication II, an elective English course for fourth-year students, tend to evaluate their past English-learning experience more positively than those who did not take the course. From these results, it is expected that closer coordination between a homestay program and an in-school English oral communication class will yield more positive outcomes in English education.
