I examined the unique expressions regarding women in particular in Murō Saisei’s late poetry. In the background of these poems written with a unique sensibility is the poet’s self-awareness as an elderly man. I also examined the poems from which that point can be adduced. Through a reading of his visionary works including and following his poetry collection Kinō irasshitte kudasai (Please Come Yesterday), I aimed at an overall investigation of the ideal image of women in Saisei’s literature, and furthermore the point to which his literature itself was leading.
