We conducted a questionnaire survey for “public class” students in 2nd grade to determine the effect of online classes in the National Institute of Technology (KOSEN), Kure College, during the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite half of the students not owning a personal computer, the survey results showed no significant differences between the type of device and level of understanding regarding online classes. Regarding the advantages of online classes, about 80% and 50% of students selected “Take the class whenever I like” and “Can watch a video repeatedly,” respectively. However, 56% of students selected “Tired of watching videos” regarding the areas of improvement for online classes.
