The present situation of volutary organizations for disaster prevention in Kure City is studied using a questionnaire survey.Two copies of the questionnaire for general purpose are mailed with a copy of one for the chairman to the chairman of all the organizations. The collection rate of the questionnaire is high with more than 60 percent.The organization rate of voluntary organizations is 22 percent.and it is very low compared with 60 percent of the national averages. 80 percent of the organizations have been organized within two years. 60 percent of them make a start by the guidance of the administration, and 20 percent make a start by the allied towncommunity recomendation. 60 percent of them is composed of households of 199 or fewer. It is important that a chairman has interest in the disaster and protection against disasters to make the organizations active. The activeguidance of the administration and help are being asked.
