本研究の目的は，地域における療養者・家族・遺族のためのがんサロンの意味を参加者の認識から明らかにすることとした。研究対象者はA 県B 支部のサロンの参加者12 名とし，3 グループに分けて1 時間程度のフォーカスグループインタビューを行った。質的分析の結果，参加者にとってのサロンの意味は，【サロンとの出会いとなるきっかけをつかむ】【行きたいときに気軽に行ける】【明るい方に気持ちが変わる】【話したいことを語りあえる】【活動を通して得るものがある】【家族にいい影響を与える】【生き方について考えることができる】【自分も役に立ちたいと思える】場であることが抽出された。これらはサロンに参加することによって感じる癒しであると説明できた。また，地域のがんサロンの特徴は，参加者が主体的にサロンへ参加していることと，がんを体験したことを活かして他者へ貢献しようと成長していく点が，特徴であると示された。

The purpose of this study was to describe the meaning of a cancer salon in the community for persons who have experienced suffering from cancer, their families and bereaved families living in the community. Focus Group Interviews (FGI) were conducted 3 times with 12 participants in a cancer salon in the community, separating them into three groups. The contents of the FGI were analyzed qualitatively. As the result, 8 categories were clarifi ed as the meaning of a cancer salon in the community for the participants. There were “obtaining the opportunities for participating in a cancer salon in the community”, “feeling easier to participate”, “feeling better and lighter”, “talking about anything to want to tell freely”, “getting something useful for oneself”, “having good effects for their family”, “thinking about how to live for the future”, and “making contributions to others by experiencing cancer themselves”. It was conceived that these categories were “healing” for the participants in a cancer salon in the community. Moreover, the characteristics of a cancer salon in the community were participants’ establishing independence and contributing to other cancer patients through using their experiences suffering cancer.
