絵図面や古文書などから三原の城下町を推測し，3次元コンピュータ・グラフィックスにより城下町を復元した。復元した城下町をバーチャルウォークスルー技術により散策する動画も制作した。これらを2007年11月11日に開催された第4回三原浮城まつりで一般市民に公開し，同時にアンケート調査を行った。CGとバーチャルウォークスルー自体の評価では，86%以上の人が「大変よかった」，｢よかった｣という肯定的な評価であった。三原観光のPRに寄与するかという質問では89%，三原城の歴史的価値を再認識させるかという質問に対しては，94％以上の人が役立つという結果であった。これらより，本CG は，郷土愛の醸成と観光資源のPR手段として有効であると考えられる。

We developed a virtual restoration of the old castle town of Mihara in Hiroshima Prefecture. Old pictures and documents were used to create 3D computer graphics (CG). We also created an animation in which one can stroll through the restored castle town using a virtual walk through technique. The CG images and animation were presented at the 4th Mihara Ukishiro Festival held on November 11, 2007, and the visitors who attended the event evaluated the CG and animation through a questionnaire. More than 86% of the respondents stated that they were "very good" or "good". For the questions, "Can they add anything to sightseeing in Mihara?" and "Can they help the inhabitants of Mihara understand the historical significance of the former castle?", 89% and over 94%, respectively, of the respondents answered in the affirmative. Therefore, we believe that the CG images and animation promote affection for one's hometown and add to the sightseeing resources of Mihara.
