Abstract

We (Tomita, Ito and Hara) adopted MUN in three classes (political science, economics, and sociology) in the Department of Intercultural Studies. We also held an open MUN on campus to which anyone can participate. As a result, we learned that the project achieved the following effects: Students learn positive and

or active attitudes in class. Students improve their communication skills Students learn presentation skills. Students learn debate skills. Students acquire international perspectives. Students improve research skills. Students improve foreign language skills. We learned in the opinion survey, which was conducted after this experiment, that many students express their opinions that they have learned more about the international community, start to pay more attention on the issues that are international in nature, and think that the MUN is effective to improve class learning.
